About certified translation | GDPR

Certified translation

  1. A certified translation is a document bearing the seal and signature of a sworn and certified translator. It has legal force, which means it can be submitted to offices, courts, universities and other institutions.
  2. The translation includes an indication as to whether the original document or a copy/scan has been submitted. If you wish notes concerning the translation from the original to be applied, the document must be presented (this can be done upon delivery by prior arrangement).
  3. According to the order of the Minister of Justice on Certified Translators’ Remuneration, which specifies the manner of calculating the price of certified translations:
    • one page comprises 1,125 characters with spaces;
    • characters are all visible characters, including in particular letters, punctuation marks, digits, hyphens and spaces between them, justified by the construction of a sentence.
    • each started page is counted as a whole.

Interpreting

  1. Interpreting services of a certified translator may be needed at:
    • notarial offices;
    • wedding ceremonies;
    • official procedures;
    • driving tests.
  2. Interpretation time is counted from the hour for which the interpreter was ordered until the moment he or she is released from his or her obligations. This time includes any breaks and delays in the start of the activity which are not the fault of the interpreter.
  3. For accounting purposes, each time unit (an hour or block), once begun, is calculated as a whole.
  4. The cost of an interpreter’s travel for an interpretation outside Cracow or at a considerable distance from the city centre will constitute an additional charge (as set out in the price agreement).
